Senior Web Producer, London
Macmillan Education, part of SpringerNature, is looking to recruit a Senior Web Producer. The role will be based within the Global Operations Department, located in London.
As directed by the Senior Digital Operations Manager, the Senior Web Producer is responsible for the operation of a Web Production team based in the UK who are tasked with the production and optimisation of digital content which is delivered through a variety of platforms in support of Macmillan’s English language and Curriculum publishing businesses. Close working relationship with UI and UX designers at the front end of the process, as well as core third party suppliers during volume content production is key. An ability to liaise with internal cross functional teams representing the Publishing and Design department is essential.
Robust archiving of digital assets and the update and creation of associated administration and work flow documentation to support delivery is essential. As is an ability to control Web Production services bought in from third parties overseas. Liaison with in-house Technology and platform support teams is key and it is required that this role service product development from conception to delivery sometimes sitting across both waterfall delivery and agile technical dependency.
To be successful in this role you must be well-organized, have a can do attitude, be flexible, adaptable, personable and able to multi-task without compromising on quality. You must be a team player, preferably with some experience of the publishing environment and have a proven track record and be able to demonstrate team leadership. The successful candidate will be able to show a keen interest and experience of working with new media, as well as an ability to learn complex systems and get to grips with technical information and procedures quickly. The ideal person will enjoy solving problems and planning projects meticulously. An ability to work openly and effectively with cross functional teams and a willingness to take on responsibilities and deliver on time and in full are key to this role.
Qualifications:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
Essential Skills/Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of digital product development best practices.
• Solid understanding of semantic mark up, XML, CSS, and responsive layout.
• Content upload and management of Drupal and WordPress platforms.
• Deep understanding of contemporary best practices for desktop and mobile web development, mobile apps, responsive web design and user experience.
• Demonstrate experience working with Technical teams in and Agile Scrum environment
• Solid understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, in particular Photoshop
• Ability to efficiently prioritise and process a high volume of content without compromising in quality.
• Knowledge of backward compatibility, progressive enhancement.
• Creativity and high level of self-motivation.
• Diligence, reliability and excellent analytical skills.
Experience:
• Publishing industry experience
• XML, HTML, CSS, and responsive layout.
• Significant experience working in a software development environment
• Experience of working on complex eLearning production and delivery solutions.
• Preferably experience of working within an ELT environment
