Graphic Designer
The Graphics Designer for Corporate Communications is responsible for managing day-to-day graphic design responsibilities for the Corporate Communications department; a visual problem-solver with exceptional design skills.
In addition to designing graphic solutions* for diverse studio groups (Corporate Communications, Employee Communications, People and Organization, External Affairs, IT, Finance, Security Environmental Health & Safety and others) the Graphic Designer will also manage the relationships with these clients through extensive one-on-one contact in meetings, by phone and through email – collaborating directly with peers, managers, directors and above to create compelling graphic campaigns.
Responsibilities:
Graphic Design:
Supports a wide variety of corporate business initiatives by:
• Designing graphics for SPE’s intranet, mySPE, including banners, Trending, Feature and Event graphics as well as other intranet graphics support
• Designing and creating digital signs for the studio lot’s Digital Signage program
• Defining and creating new brands and logos for corporate entities for print and digital
• Designing print and online communications vehicles such as brochures, ads, flyers, newsletters, posters, signs, banners, invitations, emails, etc.
• Designing working prototypes for new websites
• Designing and creating all corporate ads: sending proofs directly to clients and making all changes; submits final pdfs, archives ads electronically
• Developing and updating web content
Project Management
• Collaborates with peers and management on company-wide initiatives
• Takes active role in reaching out to clients for additional information, making recommendations, and proposing solutions in meetings/workshops
• Brand management: Logo distribution, Style Guide design and updates
• Corporate ad template design, layout and distribution
• Studio store merchandise design: manages relationship with buyer and provides original designs and illustration to spec
• Meeting demanding deadlines with acute attention to detail
• Upholding quality standards for all creative deliverables
• Manages print jobs, prepping quotes, packaging assets and sending directly to printer
• mySPE website banners: Coordinates with motion pictures and television staff directly to get artwork for design of intranet banners; sends proofs, makes changes; distributes elements to co-workers; maintains schedule.
• Create InDesign print templates for SPE’s family of business cards; working in conjunction with SVP, Corporate Communications and Sony Tokyo Brand Management
Technical Production Oversight
Researches, collaborates, and helps establish new processes and guidelines for:
• New website initiatives: learn more tools for easy website development
• Asset management
• Project tracking and documentation
• New communication vehicles and tools; develop video production capabilities
• Cataloging and providing quality control over digital assets
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
• Current and emerging trends in graphics, new media and online communications
• Typographic standards in publication and web design
• Image reproduction standards for wide range of print and digital media
Skill In:
• Designing newsletters, ads, websites, presentations, events graphics and other print and digital collateral
• Photo image manipulation using Photoshop
• Macintosh and PC operating systems familiarity, especially font management and project archiving methods
• Excellent oral and written communications including punctuation and spelling
Ability To:
• Pay close attention to detail and correct mistakes
• Work independently and multi-task on multiple projects concurrently
• Organize and prioritize work
• Solve design problems efficiently within time constraints
• Manage working relationships with team members, management, clients, vendors and support groups
• Adhere to creative briefs, project plans and deadlines
• Maintain project archiving (backup) protocols
Job Requirement / Experience:
• Two to three years graphic design experience
• Advanced level proficiency on graphic software, especially the latest Adobe Creative Suite applications on the Macintosh OS, image prep for print/web, retouching skills, and web production background
• Proficiency on PC including all Microsoft Office programs including with strong skills in PowerPoint
• Light video-editing skills a plus
