Pearson is constantly looking to add to our AMAZING team! Presently, we are in search of an experienced, collaborative Sr Technical Product Manager. In this role you will be working with a highly-capable team of product leaders, architects, designers, engineers and testers focused on building and delivering next-generation features for Pearson’s flagship learning management system, Pearson Realize.
The primary responsibility will be to define, own, prioritize and deliver on a backlog of features that are all ultimately in support of improving teaching and learning.
Position may be located at our Boston, MA or Chandler, AZ office sites.
What you’ll do:
• Collaborate with designers, architects, engineers, and quality assurance to translate high-level business objectives into functional stories and specifications that can be executed on by development teams
• Work with stakeholders to balance business and technical needs and manifest these as clear priorities for the development team
• Perform acceptance and ad-hoc functional testing of new features
• Effectively manage trade-offs between cost/schedule versus business benefit
• Manage projects, drive delivery, plan/organize work, manage risks, communicate effectively and adapt to inevitable challenges
• Manage and coordinate technical integrations across multiple lines of business
• Coach and mentor junior technical product managers and business analysts
Qualifications
What you’ll need:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years in a technical product management role
• 3+ years’ experience leading small to medium sized teams
• Familiarity with web-based and mobile product development and understanding of typical technology architecture for web and mobile applications
• Experience managing, translating and distilling requirements across multiple products into common capabilities/reusable services
• Strong customer focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Self-starter, accustomed to working in a changing environment, who takes pride and ownership of their products
• Excellent communicator, comfortable having technical discussions with both internal and external developers, as well as discussing high level concepts with customers
• Proven ability to work with cross functional teams to drive the implementation of new features as well as resolve operational issues
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in K-12 education, emphasizing learning management systems, SCORM and Tin Can
• Ability to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
