The Editorial Assistant supports the Managing Editors and other editorial staff of the school division, FSL and Social Studies teams, on a day to day basis. The Assistant will assist in the creation of instructional materials, both print and digital, and will help ensure that project goals are met on time and on budget. The Assistant will be responsible for tasks such as copyediting and proofreading (as required), quality assurance and testing of digital products, creation of spreadsheets for digital components, research and fact checking, image research and creation of photo/art logs, and consolidating reviewer comments. The Editorial Assistant must be able to juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines and must have a good editorial eye. The Editorial Assistant needs to be able to work closely with various editors, but must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing related certificate program
Certificate or diploma in publishing an asset
• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills; ability to communicate and work in French language would be an asset; must be a strong copyeditor
• Proficient with computers; including Microsoft Word and Excel, Gmail, and Adobe Acrobat
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
• Adaptable problem-solver and team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Must be detail-oriented to meet sensitive deadlines
