Job Description:
Research Manager, Dow Jones Private Markets Secondary Team
The Secondary Research Manager leads a team responsible for researching and updating private companies around the globe. The Manager has responsibility for managing staff, content and projects and has knowledge of the venture capital and private equity industry and mechanisms of the private capital market, as well as editorial and database experience, preferably with researching news articles and/or regulatory filings. The Manager will report to the Research Director, Private Markets, and will work closely with other Private Markets and Data Strategy research teams, with the Automation and Quality teams on performance measurement and reporting, with Customer Service on customer queries and with Sales on customer support and content projects. The Manager participates as needed in venture capital/private equity conferences and Sales calls.
The Research Manager will:
*Oversee a team responsible for researching and updating records of entrepreneurial companies through news articles, press releases, SEC forms, government filings and social media announcements.
*Display fundamental understanding of venture capital, private equity, and fundraising.
*Manage the quarterly data collection process in addition to performing quality control prior to deadline, ensuring proper classification of transactional data per database methodology.
*Work under tight publishing deadlines in a goal-oriented environment.
*Be a team player and be flexible to manage ad hoc projects.
*Closely work with other team Research Managers globally.
*Review operations, project assignments and delegation, perform reviews, and continually conduct quality assurance checks.
Position Requirements:
*University degree required.
*Must be comfortable speaking effectively and professionally with industry experts.
*Experience in managing/motivating a team.
*Experience with Access, Excel, formulas, pivots, macros a plus.
*Fluency in English; additional language fluency a plus.
*Excellent editorial skills, including writing, editing and proofreading.
*Knowledge of venture capital, private equity, alternative investments, and hedge funds required.
