Job Description
Purpose of role
Working within the branded content team, the Commercial Editor is responsible for the content management and creation of commercial editorial. Working closely with the Managing Editor, the Commercial Editor plays a key role in maximising the commercial potential of editorial campaigns.
Role Focus & Accountabilities
• Ideally 3+ years demonstrable commercial editorial experience either in-house or agency side
• Lead commercial executions across Huffington Post UK.
• Evangelise Huffington Post UK at agency & client meetings.
• Working with the various business stakeholders including the sales functions and editorial to respond to briefs and to deliver best in class solutions for brands and advertisers.
• Working with the Huffington Post Editorial teams to help commercialise content, collating and communicating take-to-market packages to the wider Sales Team.
• Ensuring that there is a promotional plan to support all live campaigns.
• Support on daily reporting and analysis of live campaigns.
• Assisting in the creation of end of campaign reports
• Working with the various business stakeholders including the sales functions and editorial to respond to briefs and to deliver best in class solutions for brands and advertisers.
• Identifying commercial opportunities and assisting the managing editor to create commercial product roadmaps.
• Working as a conduit between the Editorial and Sales teams, helping to champion Editorial channels within Sales.
• Edit/rewrite copy to HuffPost/AOL standards.
• Working closely with editorial teams and editorial stakeholders on identifying editorial and content areas for both pro-active and re-active advertiser briefs.
• Assisting in the commissioning, sourcing and editing of any commercial features/promotions, sponsored content and branded content as where needed.
• Ensuring that all branded content meets editorial standards, sub-editing work from freelancers where necessary.
• Ad-hoc creation of articles/features when required.
Qualifications
Key Skills & Requirements
• Superb standards of English grammar and highly developed sub-editing skills.
• Up-to-date knowledge of SEO techniques.
• Familiar with either Omniture or Google Analytics
• Ability to write excellent headlines, promotional copy and captions appropriate to the content.
• Experience writing/editing for the web and using CMS software.
• Accustomed to working in a fast paced environment with frequent pressure to meet deadlines.
• Significant related experience in a media environment required, ideally in a publishing, sales operations, commercial editorial or editorial operations environment.
• Understanding of integrated media mix essential; self-starter with excellent communication, co-ordination and interpersonal skills.
• A problem solver who is keen to innovate in a fast moving industry.
• The candidate will have an analytical mind, excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret large amounts of data.
• Experience of data input, report extraction and analysis using tools such as those for web analytics.
• Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
• Prior experience of working on and delivering complex editorial site and advertiser solutions, where cross company and team co-ordination is key.
• Proven track record in delivering projects end to end to support and drive core business strategy and have clear commercial impact.
