The Cross Media Publishing Services Department is currently recruiting for a Project Manager for a one year contract role. This position is based in the Don Mills, Ontario office.
ROLE:
As a Project Manager you are responsible for overseeing print, digital and blended programs through the project management life cycle. You will manage scope by maintaining budgets, schedules and quality standards; be able to anticipate and manage risk and be proactive in troubleshooting and problem-solving in a team environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, excellent interpersonal and multitasking abilities and thrive in a dynamic environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage project planning and processes from initiation to closing
• Troubleshoot, prioritize and manage programs in order to achieve financial goals, critical dates and suitable quality
• Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports
• Estimate, budget, track and control costs, keep to business plans and escalate issues in a timely manner
• Schedule all projects within a program to track dependencies and risk while ensuring individual project delivery dates are met
• Work with team members to complete project plans outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and schedule
• Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders on the progress of the project
• Identify and manage risk that may impact project success
• Onshore and offshore Vendor sourcing, hiring and management
• Ensure all project data is up-to-date in the Publishing Control System
• Maintain established standards and conventions
• Stay abreast of Pearson learning and delivery platforms, workflows and new initiatives
• Liaise with Inventory and Procurement teams for prompt and proper product delivery through timely, adequate and accurate communications
• Prepare regular and ad hoc reports as required, including those for designated metrics
• Complete post project evaluation sessions/reports
• Exercise project management best practices
Qualifications
• A post-secondary degree or equivalent
• Two to four years project management experience, preferably in a K-20 publishing environment
• Experience in print and digital product development and assembly workflows
• Understanding of common mark-up languages and terminology (HTML5, xml, CSS)
• Understanding of InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Familiarity with a variety of Learning Management Systems as well as content management principles and systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Google Drive apps
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong organization and planning skills;
• Exceptional at multitasking with the ability to follow detailed guidelines
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and market conditions
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and produce results; ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
• Adaptable problem-solver and collaborative team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Strong Project Management skills
• PMP certification an asset
• Knowledge of Agile Project Management an asset
