Currently announced projects at BioWare include the ongoing support of the Mass Effect franchise, one of the highest rated video game series of all time and Dragon Age: Inquisition, the latest entry in the Dragon Age franchise. Other unannounced projects are also currently being worked on.
We are currently looking for a Lead Level Designer to join our studio in Austin to work on a new unannounced IP. This exciting new IP is being developed by the same creative team that brought you Mass Effect.
Lead Level Designer
Responsibilities:
• Lead the vision for level design on a franchise.
• Communicate and work with a team of programmers, artists and designers through all stages of development to own and implement full game environments.
• Collaborate with other key stakeholders to identify and implement the priorities and objectives, focusing on the gameplay elements of a map.
• Be proactive in communicating progress and resolution of problems with the ability to set guidelines for peers and external support groups.
• Create documentation and prototypes for specific level systems and gameplay.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to peers and junior staff.
Requirements:
• 5 + years of experience as a game level designer working on AAA titles.
• Experience in a lead role on a AAA console title.
• Strong experience with closed and/or open world layouts, including gameplay and technical requirements.
• Familiar with the fundamentals of Environment Art including aesthetics, constraints, and narrative.
• Comfortable collaborating with groups within art and programming on and off site.
• Thorough understanding of current scripting language and level editors with the ability to implement and manipulate content.
• Good knowledge of RPGs and Action game genres, current technology and tools.
• Ability to critique the content of peers in a group environment.
