Responsibilities
The Director, Data & Insight, International, will lead and deliver the audience research and consultancy business at CNBC International. The team, based in London and Singapore, primarily services the internal commercial teams, as well as external clients. They will also deliver broader research and insight projects on an ad hoc basis to different departments in the CNBC International business.
This pivotal role will lead the evolution of CNBC’s international research business, services, and products. The Director, Data and Insight, will manage and lead all research efforts for CNBC International, including overseeing strategy, methodology, budgeting, people management, structure, processes, and product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Advertising Sales
1) Servicing
a. Proposal insight for sales team: Audience surveys / Ipsos / GWI / digital audience tools, etc.
b. Advertising effectiveness (pre/post awareness studies for clients)
2) Development
a. Client insights
b. Client development (competitive research, verticals insight)
CNBC data + insight products
1. Bespoke research, sponsored by and created for CNBC clients
◦ Digital
◦ Tailored
◦ Landmark projects (i.e. CNBC Connected CEO / Mobile Elite)
2. Addressable audience products
◦ Drive creation of data products
◦ Facilitate trading of our behavioural and addressable audience data
This role supports a multi-platform advertising sales team that is responsible for selling CNBC International’s;
• Audience (broadcast and digital)
• Brand strategy/consultancy
• Content creation (sponsored and native content)
• Data and insight
• Events and experiences
• Integrated client partnerships
People Management
• Attract, retain and develop employees through coaching and empowering them to take responsibility for their jobs and goals
• Delegate agreed responsibilities and expect accountability, regular feedback and transparent communication
• Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among team members across the ad sales team

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
• Previous experience in a similar role along with excellent people management experience
• Great story teller and presenter; keen ability to use research to tell a story to non-researchers instead of only presenting charts and methodology
• Superior communication skills - both verbally and written
• Represents a consumer-centric ad effectiveness point of view
• General understanding of various data sources and methodologies
• Understanding of various social media platforms, including when, how, and why various consumer groups interact with different sites
• Proficient in how to use / integrate various types of data into custom ROI analyses (third party, first party, syndicated, etc)
• Dynamic, innovative leader with strong analytical skills, business acumen.
• Well-versed in latest trends/platforms/technologies
• Knowledge of key media research currency methodologies IPSOS, GWI, Nielsen, Cogent, Comscore, Omniture
• Strong knowledge of both linear and digital research capabilities and limitations
• Proficient in statistical modelling techniques
• Understanding of Marketing Mix Models
• Additional languages would be beneficial
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Media marketing research background – strong understanding in programming or consumer marketing research audience research
• Understanding of branded content and/or product placement research
• Has well established relationships with research firms and providers of data
• Familiarity with social media monitoring and digital research tools and methodologies a plus (i.e. Omniture, comScore, etc)
• Passion for innovation and original thinking
• Experience managing budgets
