The Finance Director will manage the development of the company’s strategic and operating plans and provide relevant financial analyses. Responsible for the organization’s financial reporting integrity, accounting procedures, policies and control environment.
Responsibilities:
• To develop and coordinate strategic and operating plans, capital budgets, relevant market and financial information, and documentation of the plans for the company.
• To provide direction and communication to the various departments in the company regarding development of planning assumptions, strategies, action plans and financial impact.
• To provide financial support and expertise throughout the company including cash flow analyses, variance reporting, short-term and long-term range profitability analysis and financial projections.
• To provide a review process for the company’s performance, products, programs against plan.
• Review month end close process and financial results for accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure that accounting procedures are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Tribune’s policies.
• To provide leadership and direction to staff. Ensure that the reports and analyses are accurate and relevant to management decision-making.
• To provide business support in evaluation of new business endeavors, special projects and other development initiatives.
• Serve as the primary liaison for both internal and external financial, SOX and other audits.
• To ensure that the department provides exceptional service to all internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
• Four-year college education with a major in accounting/finance.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Should possess in-depth knowledge of planning and project management. Strong communication, organizational, analytical and management skills are required. Requires a broad-based knowledge of the newspaper, the media industry and other related businesses. Should possess good business instincts and judgment.
• Typically requires 3-5 years of management experience in the planning, accounting or new business development area.
