Overview and Responsibilities
• Handle the day-to-day operations of the third party clip licensing businesses for the all Viacom brands. Coordinate high volume of licensing requests for these networks from various outlets including record labels, television/film companies and advertising agencies on a worldwide basis for use of Viacom footage, logos, photos, and master recordings uses.
• Work closely and communicate regularly with production, tape library, MML staff, business and legal affairs, finance and accounting to locate physical materials, confirm rights, execute the agreements, generate invoices, update reports and collect license fees.
• Negotiate rates and reciprocal deals, draft and finalize agreements.
• Communicate directly with Senior-Level Management for all necessary approvals. Screen, duplicate, and provide requested material.
• Maintain a detailed tracking report of all incoming licensing requests and their status. Assist in creating comprehensive year-end reports for distribution to all stakeholders.
• Build and foster good working relationships with client groups and within the licensing community by processing all requests in a timely manner and maintaining constant communication via e-mail updates and phone.
• Ensure that licenses are executed, process invoices for all clip licensing requests and make sure invoices are paid. Communicate with the Finance department to make sure all necessary payments are completed.
• Maintain contract files for all assigned programs/projects and track relevant rights and restriction information.
• Represent Clip & Still Licensing in various meetings.
Basic Qualifications
• BA in Television, Film, Communications, Publishing, Business or similar preferred.
• 1-2 years experience in television/music/entertainment field, preferably in a business affairs, rights & clearances, or licensing capacity. Strong internship experience accepted.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Additional Qualifications
• Ability to accurately analyze contract and license agreements.
• Ability to negotiate with licensors.
• Must be able to write effective persuasive clearance permission letters.
• Must be able to communicate show ideas/use of materials/rights & media requested accurately to licensors.
