Position requires a Senior Insurance & Risk Management professional reporting to VP of Risk Management in providing leadership in developing optimal risk management and insurance programs and in driving solutions-oriented Risk Management services to company’s diverse media operations. Position requires a team-oriented leader with diverse and a depth of expertise in insurance and Risk Management policies, structures and programs. Sr. Manager is also required to review and analyze department financial reporting of unpaid claims exposures working with actuaries. Position will provide risk management and insurance expert consultation and collaborative guidance to various levels of domestic and international management. Sr. Manager will review and advise on key contract provisions and at times will be required to directly negotiate material insurance or indemnity terms with third parties on behalf of company operations management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Sr. Manager will be a key department leader, reporting to Vice President, Risk Management. Sr. Manager will be involved in the analysis of corporate insurance programs, contracts and related insurance evidence requirements and in review and analysis of self funded retentions. Sr. Manager will provide expert insurance and risk management advice to various levels of management recognizing insurance related loss exposures. Strong communications skills and prior insurance carrier or broker experience are pluses.
Interface with the Field on insurance and risk management issues to include consultation, advice and assistance on various levels of insurance and risk management related matters. Review, advise and negotiation of insurance provisions required in various levels of contracts.
Supervisory responsibility for analyst staff. Lead manager and reviewer of financial analysis reporting required for department. Sr. Manager will be required to coordinate and review external actuary reports and internal analysis reports.
Responsible for renewal of various insurance policies as assigned with goal of optimizing insurance program efficiency and program structures. Responsible for the management and compilation of policy renewal applications and compilation of corporate submissions and applications data for brokers and carriers.
Support VP in management of critical daily department services to local operations management including contract terms review and consultation/advocacy for operations management.
May be assigned to special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
• The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience with Insurance Carrier, Insurance Broker or Risk Management Department or a combination. Candidate must possess a broad based knowledge of all major lines of insurance preferably including D&O, E&O, Environmental, Crime and Fiduciary. Requires detailed knowledge of major casualty insurance policies and their standard coverage terms. Requires high level of multi-lines policy program experience. Contract review experience and experience negotiating contract insurance provisions is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferably in the area of insurance, Finance or Accounting.
• ARM and/or CPCU designation preferred.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills required. Skilled in promoting teamwork and providing team leadership.
• Must be highly experienced various insurance policy terms and in the interpretation and application of common insurance provisions.
• Highly proficient in general insurance and risk management terms and principles.
• Proficient in use of various computer software (Word, Excel and Power Point). Experience in RMIS software and strong Excel skills a plus.
