Overview and Responsibilities
The Director of Post Production is responsible for managing all aspects of post-production for scripted comedy & drama projects. Including, but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, and staffing. S/He will work closely with show producers and key department heads to ensure that shows are produced at the highest quality given the constraints of the budget. This position will work closely with Business Affairs, Creative Executives, Production Finance, Labor, and Production Facilities.
• Deep understanding of post-production details and nuances.
• Oversee post production of an assigned project in development, pre-production and production stages.
• Deep understanding of both low, mid and high budget digital, broadcast and cable pilots and series.
• Experience in scripted 1 hour primetime network & cable drama productions (both series and pilots) produced in the US & abroad.
• Experience in scripted 1/2 hour primetime network & cable comedy productions (both series and pilots) produced in the US & abroad.
• Experience in budgeting and estimating costs for various methods of production, understanding the nuances in the script and reporting them to senior management; expertise in bottom up budgeting.
• Candidate should have an understanding of low budget digital post production and those key crew members who are currently producing digital formats.
• Ability to travel to locations both domestically and internationally.
• Experience working both in the field and in a corporate environment.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, fast-growing, collaborative environment.
• Act as a liaison between the studio and the network executives assigned to the project; trouble-shoot daily production.
• Deep knowledge of television community including but not limited to writers, directors, producers, and key crew members.
• Relationship with state’s film commissions a plus.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 10 years of related experience
