Responsibilities
The Technical Product Manager should have a strong grasp of current marketing strategies, good understanding of process and tools to be able to lead integrated digital marketing campaigns from concept to execution. This means working with the marketing team, any supporting teams (such as programmers), and any vendors to launch campaigns on time, analyze data using marketing tools and platform provide customer insights helping build better marketing strategy. The Technical Product Manager will also be responsible for the overall product strategy, delivery, coordination and tracking of all projects, programs, and initiatives for Sports Marketing Group including data analysis, deploying and managing marketing tools and custom developed applications as needed. This role is a key leadership position within the Technology and Business Applications group and requires an individual capable of managing large-scale initiatives across NBC Sports Marketing business unit. Current initiate is how do we understand our Audience and then how do we get a universal view of our customer. Help build the ‘DNA Profile’ of each Individual consumer around Interest, Engagement, Social-Economic Group, Social media activity, Loyalty, Value, Ad Consumption.
Specific responsibilities include –
Partner with vendors, internal NBCU analytics teams to build, enhance existing and deliver new application; laying the foundation for future analytics and optimization around marketing and knowing our audience
Must be a able to perform the Data Analysis role and be able to know ‘what to do’ with the Data
Be able to understand paid social media advertising – How to use Facebook Analytical tools ‘Facebook Insights’, Lookalike’, targeting of ‘Customer Audience’ and be well versed with the overall Social Media landscape.
Experience in using and deploying Marketing tools, Social Media Marketing tools and Platforms
Understand and have experimented with Email Marketing and how to fully utilize it for niche targeting
Manage the complete life cycle including planning, design, implementation, integrations, testing, debugging and tuning, as well as iterative post-production enhancements
Knowledge of the marketing strategy, and ability to analyze and provide insights around first part and third party data
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suites, Analytics Tools, Paid Search, Marketing Automation Solutions, Content Management Solutions, CRM and Email Marketing
Working knowledge of ExactTarget / ESP, Mixpanel, Kochava, Urban Airship, Adobe Analytics (Omniture), Optimization tool – Adobe Target, Optimizely etc, SEO/SEM knowledge
Drive project initiation, scoping, and planning;
Engage with stakeholders and product owners to develop, groom, and maintain the product backlog.
Run SCRUM meetings and Stand-ups and IPM’s and maintain the AGILE methodologies.
Write and maintain user stories in a tracking tool throughout the entire software development life cycle
Establish good working relationships with project sponsors from marketing business and technology groups;
Develop staffing and resource management plans;
Assess project/program progress, and provide status updates to leadership;
Evaluate project risk(s) and effectively create mitigation plans;
Develop standard communication protocols and documentation templates;
Design, implement, and maintain standard processes & methodologies for project/program execution;
Serve as the expert in marketing tools, project management and organization.
Collaborate with business users, internal and external technology teams in order to deliver a scalable application that exceeds requirements ensuring compliance with enterprise standards
Identify new opportunities, tools, and services to better serve the marketing group needs.
Support and troubleshoot issues (process & system), identify root cause, and proactively recommend sustainable corrective actions;
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or Engineering (or equivalent relevant work experience). Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems is highly desirable
5+ years’ experience in project/program management in technology groups
Deep experience creating and maintaining complex project plans
Experience in data analysis, data science
Understanding of summary statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, and mathematically focused programming languages such as R and Python preferred.
Experience in system development projects
Experience in creating resource plans, estimating efforts, and mitigating resource risks
Experience working in an Agile environment; knowledge of SCRUM framework a plus
Strong presentation skills, from creation of a PowerPoint document to the actual delivery of the presentation
Strong experience with core Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint) and/or Rally
Experience working with teams comprised of employees and consultants from multiple vendors
Strong technical understanding of Service Oriented Architecture
Hands on experience with meeting facilitation, task management, time management, taking minutes, managing documentation, and action item management in both formal and informal settings
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Self-motivated & accountable, with a high level of commitment to responsibility
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Characteristics
PMI certification
Graduate of OLTP, IMLP, ITLP, or other technical leadership program
Strong leadership, team-building, vendor and customer relations skills
Must be process-oriented and able to apply structure to complex problems
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with all stake holders
Experience in US Media, Entertainment and Sports environment preferred
Experience with Sports Production Planning and Operations systems preferred
