HarperCollins Christian Publishing is in search of a Senior Marketing Director for their Specialty division. Our ideal candidate will blend a combination of marketing strategy creation, project management, and primary liaison for key authors and agents in the Specialty (gift and children’s books) division.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Senior Marketing Director include but are not limited to:
• Develops, recommends, presents and implements divisional marketing objectives, programs, and strategy to editors, authors, agents, internal and external marketing teams
• Help ensure revenue goals are met while managing marketing expenses accordingly
• Provides consultation on all imprint-wide marketing activities to ensure best practices are embedded in plans
• Ability to track marketing programs and make adjustments as necessary
• Stays aware of marketing trends and provides recommendations of new marketing initiatives and strategies
• Familiarity with market research data to be able to clearly articulate the primary benefit of each product in integrated marketing plans.
• Conveys key initiatives, financials, and marketing updates at various internal meetings (sales conference, retail meetings, business review, etc.) as needed
• Attend key consumer and trade conventions as necessary.
• Develop and continuously improve relationships with key sales accounts and sales representatives.
• Assigns and manages internal team members to ensure overall divisional plan is implemented and executed
• Researches, solicits, and implements corporate partnerships as appropriate
Qualifications:
Desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, education and skills:
Work Experience:
• 10+ years of marketing experience preferably in publishing, consumer products, or related industry.
• Experience managing a range of marketing mediums (print, radio, digital, social media, direct mail, etc)
• Advanced experience with successfully developing and executing marketing campaigns
• Possesses key contacts within the Christian publishing and creative industries (preferred)
• Experience managing members of a marketing team
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing-related field required
• Master’s Degree preferred
Industry Knowledge:
• Advanced experience with publishing industry or related industry preferred
Skills:
• Highly proficient in basic computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as social media platforms and trends in that space
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with authors, agents, colleagues, and vendors
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills
• High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization
• Demonstrated experience using email and social media as a marketing and sales tool
• High level of comfort presenting to wide-ranging audiences.
