NCLEX ® items to ensure their accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness, to classify test items with respect to their content along with several predetermined dimensions, and to maintain the accuracy and up-to-date information in content-related item database.
The Sr. Content Developer- NCLEX ® is responsible for editing and reviewing NCLEX items to ensure their accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness, for classifying test items with respect to their content along with several predetermined dimensions, and for maintaining and updating item references in the database. The Sr. Content Developer- NCLEX ® is also responsible for facilitating item writing workshops and reviewing session and for providing nursing content expertise during the workshops and throughout the entire item development process with NCSBN volunteers, committee members, and staff.
1. Content Development - 70%
--Review and edit test items developed by NCSBN volunteers during the item writing and review workshops
-- Classify test items according to pre-specified content dimensions
-- Provide references in support of the use of each item (i.e., for the correct response and the incorrect response alternatives)
-- Ensure the accuracy of item content coding, keying, and item validations
-- Deal with issues related to the NCLEX ® item database and the progress of item development
-- Participate in activities that support item review and maintenance (i.e., DIF panel, Sensitivity panel, and IRSC meetings)
-- Review Face Validity Exams
2. Workshop Facilitation - 20%
• Facilitate the item writing and item review sessions and provide content expertise as appropriate
3. Orienting New Hires - 5%
-- Participate in the on-boarding of new Content Developers
4. Other duties as assigned - 5%
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Master’s Degree in Nursing required
• 5+ years clinical practice and currently in clinical practice
• Experience with exam development strongly preferred
• Knowledge of current nursing practice
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer skills required
• Effective time management skills and multi-tasking skills
• Strong clinical nursing skills
• Great attention to detail
• Training and coaching skills a must
• Ethics and integrity a must
• Initiative and perseverance a must
• Experience as nursing educator a plus
