The Database Administrator reports to the Database Administration Manager. The service audience is iHeartMedia 3rd tier support personnel, and this position interacts with peers in IHMIT’s Innovations group, as well as top-tier vendor support. Success is realized when the company employees and executives are able to access data and systems that depend upon data in a seamless and effortless manner and when outages are repaired quickly with proper communications to customers and IHMIT employees.

Responsibilities:
Database and System Management
• Daily management of major applications and subsystems.
• Complete common core tasks include creation of pre-production code backups, new database updates, configuration file updates, database configuration changes, database engine installation and setup, registry changes, virtual and physical IP address assignments, optimization of environments, installation of database tools, cluster building, database tuning and optimization.
• Maintain database performance and capacity planning.
• Serve in an on-call rotation as an escalation contact for service trouble incidents.
• Use system incident and change management systems to document activities.
Application Implementation Support
• Align engineering development requirements with the capabilities of the site infrastructure and become proficient in understanding how each software component, system design, and configuration is linked together to form an end-to-end solution (Subject Matter Expert) on a small sub-set off applications.
• Work within the administrative protocols that Technical Operations and Software Engineering use throughout the service life-cycle
• Participate in the design of architectures and automation that deliver against strict requirements for functionality, scalability, performance and reliability and work closely with software developers and QA engineers prior to production release to ensure smooth transition into production.
Requirements:
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years administering windows-based, 3rd party applications, and databases in a production environment
• Minimum 4 years troubleshooting and managing database environment (SQL specific)
Skills
• Configuration and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Servers
• Familiarity with Windows O/S for tier 3 diagnostics (performance monitoring/network monitoring/server performance advisor)
• Administer SQL Server Integration Services: ability to secure, deploy, schedule and troubleshoot
• Maintain user security and data security to support business and audit requirements
• Understanding of OLAP, ETL, and support of BI utilizing SQL servers
• Ability to design and maintain High Availability Solutions utilizing hardware, software, and SQL technologies (Mirroring, Replication, Clusters, Log Shipping, High Availability)
• SQL tuning and management for optimal performance in database environments
• Ability to determine and implement monitoring and reporting to insure availability and business requirements
• Excellent organization skills, project tracking abilities, communications skills
• Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work flexible/odd hours (as needed)
• Successful experience working in a team environment
• Linux and AWS management and administration a plus
• Administration and tuning for NoSQL databases (MongoDB/Cassandra) a plus
• Hands on experience building and tuning NoSQL data platforms
• Ruby and/or Python scripting experience a plus
• Ability to participate in application development, diagnostics, and tuning
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to work autonomously to deal with ambiguous requirements and solve complicated problems
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools like Chef or Puppet is a plus
Education
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred
• 5+ years advanced windows application troubleshooting experience in lieu of education
Certifications
• MCDBA, MCSE, MCSA or MCP
