Responsibilities
The Corporate Strategy and Development group identifies and assesses new ways to grow NBCUniversal audience and revenue across its full range of business units, through innovation and investment. As a Senior Analyst in the group, you will play a role in different phases of that work including gathering quantitative marketplace and consumer intelligence, identifying trends and deriving business insight for management in the department and around the company.
Here what you’ll do in this role
Use multimedia research systems, tools, and data to advance NBCUniversal’s understanding of the fast-changing media and technology consumer landscapes.
Execute landscape analyses of the various industries in which NBCU operates, uncovering trends and patterns which can lead to business opportunities.
Collaborate in designing/testing/analyzing qualitative and quantitative research studies.
Provide analysis/highlights to the businesses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis as needed for NBCU leadership.
Contribute to the framing of these insights within a business case that includes competitive brand, product, audience and financial dimensions.
Help the team identify and evaluate acquisition opportunities as well as companies to partner with to further NBCUniversal’s strategic objectives.
Generate effective data visualizations that can help reveal white spaces and competitive opportunities.
Occasionally present work and contribute in discussions with business decision makers.
Stay current on developments in the media industry and use this perspective to inspire analyses and inform business points of view
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications

You have a Bachelor’s degree in finance, statistics, math, economics, sociology or related field and coursework
You have a minimum 2 years of experience in related discipline (such as entertainment research, data science, finance, or technology) OR an MBA
You have advanced proficiency in Excel spreadsheet modeling (Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Sumifs, Countifs, Match/Index, etc.)
You know syndicated data sources such as Nielsen (i.e. National TV Toolbox), comScore, or MRI
You know and are familiar with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

Desired Characteristics

You have some knowledge of statistics (regressions, T-tests, correlations, etc.)
You have some knowledge of SPSS or some other statistical packages
You are detail-oriented and able to rigorously check your own work and ensure a very high level of precision
You communicate effectively both written and verbally
You have acute problem solving skills to help the team tackle challenging research questions which might require a non-conventional approach
You think analytically and have math acumen
You think proactively and can balance multiple projects and responsibilities
You have strong interpersonal skills and can work effectively with a diversity of teams across the organization
You are organized and able to meet tight deadlines
You know programming languages such as Python
You know and have a passion for pop culture, TV, and new media
