Responsibilities
The Programmer Analyst’s role is an application developer who defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains software applications in support of business requirements. This includes testing, analyzing and supporting software programs and applications on both legacy and the new apps. This role is part of the Solution Delivery team that manages large projects for Universal Studios Hollywood.
The incumbent will report into the Program Manager of Solution Delivery and will be part of a 10 person team. The candidate will have opportunities to work on multiple projects across all business divisions (i.e. Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, etc.) and may have opportunities to work on Proof of Concepts for the business. They will also interact with the end users to not only learn about the business needs but also build a rapport with multiple business partners.
•Analyze, design, document, and modify existing software.
•Design, document, and develop new solutions for legacy as well as new software applications.
•Develop detailed test plans & conduct system testing, as needed.
•Liaise with other technical staff to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems
•Collaborate with other Universal Parks and Resorts IT teams as needed to support business requirements.
•Manage vendor software relationships.
•Define and manage small projects, timelines, budgets, deliverables and communication to the business.
•Provide regular status reporting
•Provide support for various hardware and software upgrades.
•Support both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
Qualifications/Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required; majors in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
•3-5 years of work experience in an IT support function
•Willingness to travel and/or work weekends with short notice; Support during non-business hours as needed.
•Capable of creating applications from the ground up as well as modifying existing applications.
•Excellent understanding of SQL databases and query best practices. Including triggers, stored procedures and reporting using SSRS
•Extensive relational database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
•Extensive programming with Microsoft .Net, particularly C#, ASP.Net, and VB.Net.
•Extensive knowledge of software version control, preferably TFS.
Desired Characteristics
•Experience supporting a large POS application (i.e. OmniTicket – Overview Ticketing System, Gateway – Galaxy Ticket System, or Omnico – Clarity)
•Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
•Knowledge of industry best practices around release management.
•Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
•Capable of working in a fast paced environment.
•Hospitality industry experience preferred.
•Results oriented with a history of problem resolution, prevention, and solutioning.
•Effectively handle sensitive and confidential data.
