Overview and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for primary and secondary research efforts, data analysis and synthesis of projects, providing cohesive and actionable insight to departments across the organization. Role includes working with research firms and other suppliers, managing database and quantitative and qualitative studies.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
• Conducts world-class market research to aid decision-making for all new theatrical release and catalog marketing campaigns related to consumer movie buying and renting behavior (both DVD/Blu-ray and digital buying/renting), as well as individual title insights
• Communicates market research findings to creative services, sales, digital/social marketing, media, and retail marketing teams
• Manages day-to-day vendor relationships relating to primary and secondary market research
• Designs and manages researches studies including vendor selection and management, methodology development, and analysis of results
• Summarizes market research data and reports into key findings and executive summaries
• Has a deep understanding of available data sets (box office, consumer title tracking, social media analytics, media spending, historical sales/rental data, etc.) and how they can be used for different analyses in the service of answering questions and solving problems
• Aggregates and analyzes data using the appropriate tools (Excel, SPSS, R, etc.) and techniques (descriptive statistics, regression, clustering, factoring, etc.) to produce insightful reports and models
• Conducts internet searches, monitors trends, and uses research vendor websites and communications to maximize research support with limited resources
• Updates and reconciles market research budget, including vendor invoices
Basic Qualifications
• BA in business, market research, marketing strategy, psychology, statistics or other related field
• Minimum three years of market research and/or consulting experience on the client or vendor side in a home video, theatrical, marketing analytics, or consumer packaged goods department
• Previous use of multivariate analysis, factor analysis, regression modeling and other advanced statistical techniques
Additional Qualifications
• Experience in working independently with minimal direction
• Well-versed in entertainment research (TV/Film/Gaming), specifically around marketing content development and strategy
• Experience researching topics pertaining to home entertainment, film, technology, and shopper behavior (brick & mortar or digital) strongly preferred
• Experience planning, conducting and analyzing data from both qualitative and quantitative primary research studies, utilizing a variety of research methodologies
• Proven track record of successfully conducting research studies within timing and budget constraints
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, experience with survey design, sampling, and data analysis
• Extremely well organized and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to analyze research data and translate raw information into actionable insights that can be easily understood and utilized by the entire organization
• Excellent presentation and writing skills
• Able to work effectively with others to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets
