Responsibilities
Role Purpose:
This position is for an Associate Producer on the MSNBC Weekend Breaking News team. The main responsibility of the Associate Producer is assisting segment producers with locating, viewing, and editing videotape for broadcast. The AP needs to be up-to-date on show rundowns to ensure that all video footage is in place and is current. Must be able to quickly turnaround video while on air and during breaking news situations.
Job Duties:
Main responsibility is to assist Segment Producer with varying projects, which include, but not limited to:
Notifying control room/ line producer of images coming in for Breaking News
Straight cut video and work with editors when needed
Available to assist producers with interplay/desktop editing
Helping to coordinate media coverage during breaking news
Ensuring video producers are aware of video restrictions and contracted media is purged once it has lapsed
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in live television including morning shows, cable shows, and broadcast TV
At least 2 years experience in research and news production
At least 2 years of tape, field and editing experience required
Must have at least 2 years of experience writing
Must be proficient with desktop editing
