Responsibilities
Do you like leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects? Do you like leading projects that are “tip-of-the spear” and at times, “first-of-a-kind?” Are you one who takes control, driving projects from concept through completion? Can you usher projects through their entire lifecycle including managing schedules, identifying risks, driving results, and communicating risks and goals to all project stakeholders? NBCUniversal, the Number 1 Network in America and one of the leading media companies in the world, is looking for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead short and long-term complex strategic projects. The TPM will be the key to driving industry leading innovative projects as well as keeping all players coordinated on the project’s progress and timelines. The TPM will help deliver on the projects leading NBCUniversal’s future into next generation content delivery and distribution including, but not limited to, video over IP, OTT (over-the-top) delivery, digital streaming, VOD (video-on-demand), TV Everywhere, and future technologies for content distribution. • Drive project delivery, focusing towards launching various new projects by working with management to define and clarify project objectives, institute process improvements, and ensure the efficient and reliable achievement of project deliverables
• Abstract, organize, and structure project objectives, workflows, and key deliverables/timelines/attributes
• Coordinate with stakeholders to manage, track, and control project issues to ensure timely delivery, including the development of reports to track planning, scheduling, issues, risks, and overall status
• Manage strategic projects within Project Strategy/O&TS, including complex issues lists and leading all players through the entire project lifecycle
• Manage/juggle competing priorities without loss of efficiency
• Aggregate and lead the pacing and presentation of project updates
• Understand and analyze different technology solutions at a high level
Qualifications/Requirements
• BS degree in an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
• Ability to understand technical subjects and emerging technologies
• Work well as a member of a highly integrated team composed of both technical and non-technical members
• Experience and desire to work with multi-disciplinary teams, yet still be able to work independently
• Clear thinker with the ability to process data in a sometimes abstract environment
• Ability to lead, drive, and manage competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional environment
• Strong organizational, project management, analysis, and communication (both verbal and written) skills
• Experience interacting and communicating to all levels of leadership and management
Desired Characteristics
• Experience within the media entertainment and broadcast industry is preferred but definitely not required
• Industry experience as a project or engineering manager
• Helped manage and run a production or distribution facility/infrastructure (24x7)
• Familiarity with networking challenges, video-over-IP, or other emerging technologies
• PMP Certification is desired but definitely not required
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours, as needed, to meet business needs and deliver on commitments
