Working in the MLM learning environment, the Hardware lecturer will be responsible for a group of students assigned to the incumbent at the beginning of each year. The successful candidate will work daily with each student on a one-on-one basis, mentoring them throughout the year primarily in our computer lab. The candidate will coach academic progress and time management to each student and will be responsible for building and sustaining relationships with the students and sponsors.
The Lecturer will be their students’ 1st go to person with all things academic and the candidate therefore needs to ensure optimum growth in their students’ academic path. Ensuring student experience is optimised in line with Pearson quality standards values and efficacy goals. Ensure that the student is at the heart of everything we are responsible for in our function of academics.
Key Responsibilities
• Mentor duties: Each instructor is assigned students for the year. The instructor needs to use strong disciplines & approaches to academically mentor / coach each student on an individual basis throughout the year.
• Academic Responsibility: The instructor is responsible for all academic aspects of his/her students
• Progress Management: Mentoring students with progress management on a daily basis is an important responsibility in this role
• Planning & forecasting to ensure that students meet targets set
• Marking: Projects, exercises, pre-exam tests & exams on a daily basis
• Weekly meetings: Official weekly meetings held and documented with each student
• Upskilling: New skills need to be upskilled constantly. Stringent upskilling targets to be discussed with manager on a monthly basis
• Workshops: Weekly academic workshops to be held to assist students with learning
• Feedback: prompt and detailed feedback for each project, exercise, pre-exam tests & exam to be given to the student
• Sponsor communication: Each sponsor needs to be contacted at least once each month with an updated progress report for his/her student
• Student administration: student files needs to be kept and maintained on a regular basis
• Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by manager related to the learning environment
• Ensure high exam pass rate is upheld
• Interact daily with students on a one-on-one basis
• Instil passion and awaken students’ to their academic responsibilities
• Produce responsible, qualified and educated students

Experience
• Less than 1 years tutoring experience
• Recent graduate from BSC Com Science or MLM
• Student focus: Demonstrates proven ability to be timely, compelling, clear and concise in all communications. Puts the student at the heart of all communications & interactions.
• Style: Demonstrates a professional approach to mentoring students & sponsors
• Demonstrates sound knowledge & understanding of the key fundamentals of the IS industry and is seen as a leader in this area

Qualifications
• BSc IT Degree (Network Engineering will be advantageous).
• Hardware management and IT infrastructure subject specialization.
