Content Producer
Hanley Wood Media, Inc. is seeking a Content Producer to join the editorial team. The Content Producer should possess strong writing and editing skills and strong analytic skills. Meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy are crucial skills in this role. Responsibilities will include compiling and writing news stories and profiles, aggregating 3rd party content, researching story leads, writing, and fact-checking.
This individual should also have experience using blogs and social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. He/she may also be responsible for generating traffic, increase loyalty, encourage word of mouth promotion, and make connections with online audience.
Responsibilities will include:
• Writing succinct, intelligent, creative, and cogent copy that drives traffic to Hanley Wood websites
• Aggregating relevant 3rd party content for use on the Hanley Wood audience pages
• Writing stories for multiple audience groups
• Fact-checking page proofs for phone numbers, websites, etc.
• Expanding content using online social media platforms
• Conducting web research to find interesting products and story ideas
• Community Management: managing day-to-day community management, audience engagement, page and content moderation, and general outreach
• Research: conducting basic research in order to engage the community and investigate any trending activities within the community
• Surveying readers on issues and themes
• Making calls to gather additional quotes for stories
• Conducting research and interviews, compiling art, managing special projects
• Attend news and art meetings
Qualified candidates should possess the following Skills, Education, and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field required
• Ability to accurately understand scope of assigned projects, clients’ goals and requirements, and budgets
• Demonstrated research, writing, and telephone skills
• Ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment and adhere to all deadlines
• Capacity to engage as a collaborator in an agile, team- and innovation-based organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web browser use, and Google Docs
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong sense of professionalism
• Ability to multi-task and manage projects and stories simultaneously
• Organized self-starter with a positive attitude
• Desire to broaden knowledge of emerging technologies
• Adeptness using digital technologies to engage with immediate environment and initiate change
• Proficiency using Content Management Systems (i.e. Brightspot, Hootsuite, WordPress) preferred
• Strong presence on social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook and Twitter preferred
• Must display the maturity required to work in a casual office setting
