Job Responsibilities
Comcast's Corporate Internal Communications team creates and executes the internal communications strategies that support the business and culture of our exciting and growing Fortune 50 company. Comcast is a leader in innovation, and the Executive Director, Internal Communications will develop communications strategies and plans to engage, inform and inspire our employees across a number of dynamic industries. This opportunity requires an experienced communications professional who loves fast pace, an ever changing environment and new and stimulating challenges.
Core Responsibilities:
-Develop and execute internal communications for Comcast Corporate and Comcast Cable that reflect and position Comcast as a world-class workplace.
-Explore and utilize best-in-class communications tools, technology, and services, including face-to-face, broadcast, town halls, online, video, digital, social and print.
-Manage a company-wide editorial calendar to promote consistent, aligned and on-brand messaging; Lead strategic communications planning for large, company-wide projects and key workplace and marketplace initiatives.
-Act as Editor-in-Chief, content strategist and owner of company Intranet, including content, technology, metrics and governance.
-Manage the web, intranet, and other digital and print resources and ensure they enhance decision-making through accessible, reliable, and actionable information. Monitor, measure and gauge the most effective communication channels for messages, including the end-to-end communications cascade. Identify and monitor specific, relevant metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives.
-Drive social media adoption and internal social media strategies that foster employee engagement.
-Lead communications strategy/planning/execution for localized communications inside our corporate headquarters.
-Oversee the continuous improvement of the department's capabilities (i.e., processes, systems and environment) to deliver superior results and meet changing business needs.
-Plan and manage an annual budget and allocates resources (i.e., people and expense dollars).
-Drive tight alignment with field and functional communicators in our decentralized environment, including adoption of common formats and templates to build a more consistent internal brand.
-Coordinate and adjudicate the various competing demands to communicate to employees set priorities and act as a consolidator and rationalizer of the various demands.
-Lead other special projects, as needed by senior leadership.
Job Specification:
-Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications or related field is required with training in quantitative and qualitative research methods. Master's degree preferred.
-Minimum 15+ years' experience in a communications role
-Superior management skills and ability to influence and engage leadership, direct and indirect reports and peers.
-A savvy, smart, efficient, fast-working, results-oriented creative leader.
-Role is hands-on with need to think strategically and execute.
-Creative and thoughtful insight on how new media technologies can be used both to communicate and to measure effectiveness and results; internal social media experience a plus
-Exceptional oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management.
-Energetic, flexible, collaborative, highly creative and proactive.
-Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
-Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, evolving environment and anticipate future needs and trends.
-Experienced people manager, particularly in a matrixed environment.
