Overview and Responsibilities
MTV is hiring a VP Audience Development to evolve and lead our video, traffic and social engagement growth strategy in support of the MTV Studio, a distributed video and social content engine that works hand-in-hand with the linear TV network. This role reports into the SVP, Audience Development, Strategy & Operations.
This position will oversee an audience development team tasked with multiplatform content distribution, programming optimization, external partnership driven growth opportunities and packaging/delivering insights to creative editorial teams – all with a view towards driving scale and capitalizing on current and emerging revenue opportunities.
The successful candidate will combine a track record of successful, engaged video and social audience growth, data-driven decision making, a strong POV on the nature of audience behaviors and psychology, how different platforms and formats fit into people’s content diets, and how to capture audience attention and loyalty.

Responsibilities:
• Strategic leadership and team management. Leading audience development team to monthly consumption goals across MTV Studio’s programming to
◦ Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat Discover, the MTV App
◦ Emerging platforms/products including Facebook Live, YouTube live and Live.ly
• Tactical development and oversight. Playbook development and evolution around growth of video streams, engaged audience, subscribers/loyalty, unique site visitors and engaged digital and social communities, with a focus on
◦ SEO, social programming and copy oversight, real time headline/thumbnail optimization and multivariate testing, email and newsletter strategy, partnership development, social listening and story prospecting
• Partnership Development. Developing and managing creative, informal and formal partnerships with social communities, influencers and social talent, publishers, portals and aggregators to expand reach of MTV Studio content
• Developing ROI/lifetime value for potential new audience pools
• Crafting retention plans for loyal users across all platforms
• Working closely with editorial, research, product, tech, data science and other social teams to facilitate the necessary back and forth between creative, programming and analytics teams; ie, ensuring insights are plugging into the right organizational inputs over the right timeframes (real time, daily, weekly etc)
Basic Qualifications:
• 6+ years growing and engaging audiences for content publishers, media companies and/or brands
• Deep knowledge of functionality and sense of audience behaviors and successful content strategies on YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, live streaming services
• Extensive experience with analytics services, multivariate testing and user tracking methods
• Dedicated to leadership, team development and mentorship
• Self-starter who can chart his/her own course, own a project from inception to the end
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
• Low on ego, high on collaborative spirit; hungry, not thirsty
