Telemundo Station Group, part of the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal, is comprised of 16 local television stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Responsibilities
Capture and edit content as well as troubleshoot during the live newscast.
Work with Producers in order to follow rundown requests and make sure expectations can be performed without risking the show flow.
Direct technical aspects of newscast and other productions like promos, cut-ins, special reports, among other projects assigned.
Check and switch between video and audio sources, and take responsibility for the on-air product, including camera shots and graphics, lighting, monitors and sets.
Edit video/audio and create graphic elements for the newscasts or any other production as required.
Record promos inside or outside the studio.
Shoot video and sound for stories.
Post video and pictures to digital platforms.
Qualifications/Requirements
Directing and editing experience using overdrive is a must.
Bi-lingual – Fluent in both Spanish and English.
Demonstrated ability to make sound news judgment.
Experience in graphic programs such as but not limited to: Final Cut-Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premie, Edius and iNews
Experience editing with non-linear and linear platforms.
Must provide a DVD (will not be returned) or online link of sample work.
Degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communication preferred.
Must be available to work flexible hours (whenever necessary for show production) early mornings, evenings, holidays.
Desired Characteristics
Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment. Flexibility to adapt to changes before and during the newscasts.
Previous experience directing newscasts and editing.
Must have very strong non-linear editing skills.
Must be able to direct multiple daily newscasts, breaking news and cut-ins and ability to improvise while recording or doing live shows.
Production skills in graphics. Must be able to take raw footage and polish it into final on-air product.
Must be detailed oriented and capable of working under very tight deadlines.
Experience with technical switching, familiar with multiple playback units.
Ability to assist with camera settings, equipment changes and modifications.
Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment failure, fix and find solutions to maintain quality of newscast on-air.
