Finance Manager
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) Finance is seeking a finance manager to work in the domestic budgeting and forecasting group. The role of the manager will primarily be to support the team in its budget/forecast, monthly reporting, and greenlight processes relating to SPHE Third Party product as needed. The manager will also be expected to have a thorough understanding of the various contract rights and fee calculations. Secondarily, the manager will support the team as needed on Studio Product processes, including greenlight analyses preparation, quarterly ultimates review, special projects and ad hoc requests. The DHE budgeting and forecasting group provides support to several departments within SPHE (e.g., marketing and commercial planning), other SPE divisions (e.g., Corporate Finance, Motion Picture Group, Worldwide Acquisitions, Television), and key Third Party product management.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• 3rd Party Business:
◦ Based on a thorough understanding of SPHE’s 3rd Party contracts (especially distribution rights and fee calculations), assisting in the creation of annual/quarterly forecasts pertaining to 3rd Party product, including plan to plan reconciliations
◦ Providing analysis for and assisting in the preparation of the annual mid-range plan (MRP), a forecast of the next three fiscal years
◦ Preparation of cash flow statement
◦ Analyze and validate monthly title/label level reporting to ensure it captures appropriate home entertainment markets, territories, revenues, costs, fee calculations, etc.
◦ Review with label managers and provide support as needed
◦ Providing greenlight estimates by analyzing comparable titles and leveraging the greenlight model
◦ Maintain and update the greenlight model as needed
• Studio Product:
◦ Supporting annual/quarterly forecast processes
◦ Supporting the quarterly ultimate review process
◦ Providing analysis for and assisting in the preparation of the annual mid-range plan (MRP), a forecast of the next three fiscal years
◦ Preparing and validating financial schedules for the Greenlight process
# Film and Television
◦ Preparing monthly new release P&L for accrual and forecast purposes
• Ad hoc requests/projects as needed
• Assessing process efficiency and proposing/implementing improvements
Requirements:
The SPHE environment is fast paced and dynamic; the candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. The position requires strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail. The position also requires strong written/verbal communication skills. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics from an accredited four-year university. This position requires advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Essbase, SAP, Business Objects, and/or JD Edwards would be a plus. 4 – 5 years of relevant work experience is required, within home entertainment would be a plus. CPA is preferred but not required.
