BestProducts.com is looking for an experiences editor to write and produce content covering any and every experience — from bluegrass festivals, Thai cooking classes, kayaking adventures, extreme challenge courses, language immersions, underground comedy nights, and more! Join a team of awesome editors (read: rockstars!) looking to redefine what it means to be a product review site.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work for a rapidly growing digitally native brand! We’re looking for a writer who is obsessed with new life experiences and creating unforgettable memories. This person should be open to covering hyper-local events (pizza-making classes in Brooklyn? Yes, please!) to national and global happenings (did somebody say Oktoberfest?).
We know what you’re wondering: “What do I have to do to get such a sweet gig?” Well, you need to be a self-starter capable of creating content that will engage an audience across multiple platforms and someone who is able to excel in a fun, fast-paced environment with an eye for detail. As the experiences editor, you will be expected to write and produce themed packages featuring multiple experiences and even first-person takes on new classes or culinary tours you’ve tried. You’ll be expected to pitch and produce fresh content to give BestProducts.com a unique voice in this space.
Responsibilities:
• Pitch, write, and produce experience roundups and serviceable stories. (Life’s tough when your job is to write about all of the awesome exotic food you get to try and adventure tours you’re bookmarking!)
• Update content regularly, ensuring the latest trends are reflected. You’ll be responsible for making sure that the sailing package is still being offered and readers can still book that backcountry ski trip
• Work closely with internal partnership teams including SEO, Syndication and Social to ensure all content is well optimized and promoted (help us help you get eyes on your content!)
• Develop relationships with PR reps in the industry (we get by with a little help from our friends)
• Monitor content performance, produce content insights, and pitch additional ideas based on results (Give the people what they want!)
Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree
• Minimum of 2 years of professional editorial experience
• The ability to work independently, extremely detail oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Successful and current relationships with key PR people in the market
• An understanding of and interest in the latest happenings in the event and experiences space
• Daily experience working within a CMS
• Proficiency with Photoshop or other image editing software
• Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
• Strong analytical skills
• Must be able to collaborate and foster positive relationships with colleagues
• Must have a passion for building BestProducts.com’s brand
• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Analytics (Omniture preferred)
