We are seeking for a new position for Springer-Verlag GmbH Heidelberg
Associate Editor or Editor (m/f)for thedepartment Life Sciences / SRG
Main duties:
• Overseeing a portfolio of academic journals in life sciences with a special focus on animal sciences
• Implementing strategies to meet market needs and business opportunities both at the portfolio and journal level
• Management of existing journals in order to improve impact, visibility and usage
• Acquisition of new research monographs, textbooks, reference works and similar book projects
• Building and managing relationships with editors, authors, learned societies, and the science community at large
• Preparing publishing contracts
• Results-oriented cooperation with marketing, production and other internal departments
Requirements:
• Advanced academic degree in biology or an equivalent area, ideally at PhD level
• Experience in working with academics in an international environment
• Ideally basic experience in managing large academic journals and a book portfolio
• Positive and proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership to drive and complete tasks
• Strong organizational skills, including proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
• Fluency in English and German, both orally and written
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and as part of a team
• Ability to travel
