What is the goal of this role?
To lead a team responsible for magazines and inserts print, tablet, mobile and digital products within the marketplace in what is a complex multi-platform sell. This role will work across all News UK brands.
What are my accountabilities?
• Lead a sales team that can articulate News UK brands and audiences across all platforms
• Develop strong agency relationships with Heads of Press and Digital investment (title will vary by agency)
• Work with both the Trading Director and Sales Directors to deliver and maximise agency and client revenue
• Collaborate with the Heads of News, Agency Development and Digital, as well as the Category Directors
• Work to ensure successful implementation of the agency contact strategy
• Manage the team to deliver enhanced client service through increased product knowledge, platform understanding, consumer insight and measure their performance against their ability to deliver
• Coach, mentor and develop the talent in the Magazines team, and skills and knowledge of tools for challenging agency plans (e.g. IMS / Telmar)
• Ensure excellent product knowledge within the Sales team
• Drive revenue delivery, ensuring compliance with Agency, Client and Group deals
• Identify ways of generating incremental revenue from customers and clients
• Ensure that all revenue targets are achieved on a monthly, quarterly & annual basis through the delivery of the Sales Strategy
• Work collaboratively with the Head of Title Management and Finance to help set budgets and re-forecasting on a quarterly basis to ensure that we are maximising revenue
• Work collaboratively with the Head of Title Management and Head of Magazine Publishing Operations to ensure profitability levels are achieved
• Inspire the team to deliver great sales propositions executed to the highest possible professional standards; set clear expectations of what those are and manage with a zero tolerance approach.

What experience must I have?
• Experience of running a large sales team with a track record of coaching and mentoring
• Thorough understanding of a cross platform sell and the roles of different media in the marketing mix
• Proven understanding of the agency marketplace and the broader media landscape
• High level presentation skills and able to speak on public platforms with presence & impact
• Experience of running a P&L
• Existing relationships at senior level in agencies and the ability to quickly establish new ones with planners/account management, digital teams and clients
• Track record of working with a wide range of commercial colleagues
