Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group is an independent mini-studio within the infrastructure of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) and distribution footprint of NBCUniversal. With offices around the world and central headquarters in London, the UPHE Content Group discovers, acquires, and produces a diverse range of quality content across a multitude of genres (film, stand-up comedy, TV drama/sitcoms, music, sports, documentary, family entertainment, events & special interest) for global distribution. It’s multiplatform sales & distribution footprint includes theatrical, physical, digital (SVOD & Transactional), TV (Free & Pay) as well as consumer products. The business uniquely focuses on managing talents, partnerships, brands, and titles across all rights and across their full lifecycle. Responsibilities
Position Overview
The VP Content Strategy, Marketing & Distribution role is a unique opportunity in the US & Canada Acquisitions & Production team. It works across multi-platform rights exploitation of our content to maximize profit and provides a central point between the creative, commercial and corporate worlds. The individual will work closely with the Acquisitions team to engage stakeholders internally as well as externally to ensure the most successful roll out of the content is achieved.
Further this role also leads the Marketing & PR function in driving strategy, creating materials, assets, managing budgets and liaising with multiple 3rd parties to create world class all rights marketing plans globally. Key to this role is the ability to think creatively about releases and to determine strategy on an individual project basis.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy
In-depth involvement in setting up the structure and processes of the new Content Strategy function to enable it to do the following:
• Drive to maximize the exploitation value of titles acquired by the A&R Group
◦ On selected Titles, recommend and implement specific strategies across multi-rights - working alongside content owners at the center and within OpCos which will involve modeling various scenarios for discussion with the business
◦ Monitor market trends flagged by stakeholders and proactively ‘package’, look for, and identify commercial opportunities for internal stakeholders to pick up (eg. DTO projects, SVOD for key genres, etc).
◦ Create ongoing communication with all business entities on all titles so the titles get enough visibility internally to be “top of mind” and ensure we become a “smooth machine” to work with. This will include Theatrical, TVD Group, Home Entertainment, Commercial Video Group/Inflight, Consumer Products, and Third Party Partners (existing and new relationships)
• Develop and try new business models and windowing exploitation, working with internal stakeholders of other business groups within the wider Comcast group. This may include, for example, supporting the roll-out of new initiatives such as launching new brands, live shows and innovative campaign on new media formats.
Marketing
• Commercial strategy setting across distribution and consumer marketing in all rights throughout the product lifecycle. From analysis and forecasting of titles and genres through to development and campaign direction
• Revenue management to deliver and drive sales performance to meet greenlight target and beyond
• Embed all rights culture both within the team and across every touch point of the role
Overall this role is the central point of contact linking content to its distribution platforms and is key to the commercial success of the brands
Qualifications/Requirements
• 10+ years of content distribution marketing experience within the entertainment media and brand management industries
• Strong commercial acumen demonstrated by experience of forecasting and managing full P&L’s as well as budget effectively

• First rate project management skills – able to prioritize, set a critical path, manage complex stakeholder networks across a large number of projects within challenging deadlines
• Strong people management skills – successfully manage a team of at least 3 reports
• Confident and credible presenter, able to present to large and diverse groups
• Ability to work independently as an ‘in-house indie’ within a ‘big studio’ environment.
