Overview:
At the direction of the Risk Director, to review the claim management of Property and Casualty claims within the Barnes & Noble organization. To recommend and implement cost containment programs on a global as well as individual claims basis.
Management of claims within the self-insured retention is a significant cost to the organization and requires skill and expertise of an insurance professional.
Responsibilities:
• Manage Casualty Workers Compensation claims with a combined reserve not to exceed $25,000 including monitoring employees who are receiving weekly benefits, coordination with benefits, store managers, claims adjusters and physicians.
• Other casualty claims and WC claims in excess of $25,000, are to be handled at the discretion of the Risk Directorand with the supervision of the Risk Manager.
• Report all claims using the appropriate systems.
• File and complete OSHA survey requests.
• Complete and file all state WC forms.
• Act as corporate liaison with benefits, auto fleet administrator, and loss control.
• Review and recommend claim administration for Monopolistic states.
• Accept and coordinates recovery of property losses below the company deductible.
Qualifications:
• BA from an accredited University.
• 3-4 years insurance company claims experience handling WC claims strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Good communication skills – verbal and written
• Self-starter, independent worker and think outside the box
