Duties:
• Write and edit multiple-choice items to assess comprehension and understanding of children’s and young adult texts.
• Coordinate and track work from writers and editors.
• Enter data and generate spreadsheet reports for production.
• Edit editorial specifications, marketing websites and flyers, and other materials.
• Process books, including spine removal and scanning, to prepare image files and image-to-text OCR files.
Skills:
• Develop clear, accessible assessment items for children and young adults at all reading levels.
• Use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and FileMaker Pro at a basic level.
• Communicate effectively in email and in meetings with editorial, marketing, and engineering staff.
• Understand children’s and young adult literature, literacy skills, publishing and library metadata, and Standard American English grammar and spelling.
Qualifications:
• Four-year college degree in English, education, or library science.
• Two years teaching and/or editing experience.
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
