Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst
Job ID: 17WD22472
Location: One Market St, San Francisco
The Team:
Autodesk’s Market Intelligence organization is in a unique position at the crossroads of data analytics, strategic thinking, and tactical marketing. We provide the organization with actionable analyses and real-world insights into our customers, competition, and markets.
The Role:
We’re looking for outstanding candidates to join our group and participate in transforming Autodesk by using data and analytics to improve the company’s ability to understand and engage with customers. In this role, you will query large data sets, analyze information, and deliver recommendations that help shape company strategies and improve business processes.
Business Intelligence Analysts generate and report out vital information across the organization. Ultimately, you will be responsible for providing clear, actionable insights based on rigorous data analytics.
Your Responsibilities:
• Analyze data related to business growth, user behavior, marketing campaigns, and product usage to identify opportunities for regional and global business teams
• Execute sophisticated qualitative and quantitative analyses; and, if appropriate, advanced modeling that translates data into actionable insights
• Assess critical impact of business strategies and options, and provide clear articulation of assessment to support decision making for senior management
• Prepare presentations and clearly communicate findings from initiatives to the broader organization
• Turn raw information into insights, recommendations, dashboards, and reports to provide ad-hoc reporting and analytics services and proactively support business decisions and processes
• Facilitate business planning by providing strategic insights such as addressable market opportunity, business or operational performance, and process or product improvement opportunity
• Leverage technologies including, but not limited to, Excel, database systems (SQL and NoSQL), Tableau, Qlikview, Business Objects, and Looker, to collect, process, perform statistical data analyses and interpret results
• Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Engineering, Legal, and HR to define and meet stakeholder requirements
Six signs that you are the right candidate:
You love data:
You are excited about accessing, querying, and analyzing data to solve problems. You are fascinated by how datasets are related to each other and curious to see what insights can be gleaned when combined. You like all kinds of data – big, little, incomplete – from a variety of sources – customers, products, marketing systems, sales teams.
You see clearly through complex data: Within 10 minutes of opening a monster excel file you just exported from the data query, you’ve pivoted it beyond recognition, and you’ve spotted 3 caveats and know how they affect the rest of the data. You’ve highlighted in green the six cells that actually matter and you can translate them into plain English or a relevant graph.
You like to tackle meaningful questions: You enjoy working issues that have an immediate and significant impact on team’s strategies and tactics. You’re thrilled when complex data distills down to a specific answer to challenging question.
You thrive on change: You adapt to the environment around you. Where others see a threat to the status quo, you see an opportunity to innovate and get ahead of the curve. More than that: you want to be the person who sparks change in the way you get the job done, the way Autodesk addresses its customers, and the way customers imagine, design and create a better world.
You are a collaborative team player: You value being part of a great team and realize that being positive and helpful is as valuable as completing great analyses. You appreciate partnering closely with more experienced team members to get feedback and share successes.
You are a clear communicator:After the heavy lifting is done in analyzing data, you can create a compelling visualization to share your findings, and are confident in presenting your findings out.
Education & experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or other quantitative field
• 1-3 years of relevant hands on quantitative experience, preferably in analytics or consulting
• A demonstrated history of conducting quantitative analyses that have driven valuable change or optimization in a business context.
• Advanced Excel skills (i.e., use pivot tables, vlookups, and advanced charts/graphs)
• Advanced SQL skills (i.e., querying large, complex datasets)
• Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Business Objects, Tableau, Looker)
