Collaborating with Ubisoft's international creative teams on projects such as Assassins Creed Syndicate, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, online open-world RPG "The Division" as well as the adventure platformer "Grow Home". Job Purpose
Responsible for the architecture and implementation of shareable systemic gameplay, simulation and AI systems that enrich the overall game experience for multiple open world game projects.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with designers to architect game systems to support game requirements within the defined technical constraints
• Systems should be architected to be shareable across multiple projects and game engines;
• Closely coach and mentor junior members of the team, to create modular, portable, shareable code systems.
• Stay current with the state of the industry, and emerging technical innovations in the field;
• Write clear and well-structured C++ code while bearing in mind performance, maintenance and compatibility requirements;
• Verify and validate that newly developed systems conform to the project’s goals without negatively affecting existing code;
• Find and fix bugs flagged by Quality Control and team members from other disciplines;
• Document work to transfer system knowledge allowing users to understand the use of new game system functionalities;
• Perform all other related tasks;
• Supporting the Lead Programmer in any ad hoc tasks and duties.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge
• Passionate about playing and making games;
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills, with good knowledge of object oriented development;
• Knowledge and experience with existing and cutting edge game technologies (e.g. path-finding, behavior trees, planning, character controllers,);
• Proven ability to debug defects of a reasonable complexity;
• Able to plan and estimate their own tasks and ensure timely delivery of work;
• Self-motivated and pro-active with a strong work ethic;
• Proven ability to debug defects of a reasonable complexity;
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
Relevant Experience
• 3 years of commercial software development experience with significant
involvement in 1 published game;
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent industry experience;
