As an A/V Engineer focusing on troubleshooting and analyzing complex file based media asset issues, you will work with a team of A/V Engineers to solve workflow problems, determine best practice in media processing, investigate new media processing technologies, and work through issues related to VOD workflows. In this role you will become the subject matter expert as it relates to video and audio compression, ancillary data services (closed captioning, subtitling, DVS) and more.
Who does the A/V engineer work with? A/V engineers are positioned within the core infrastructure development teams and service delivery teams. We work with internal and vendor network engineers, systems administrators, software engineers, and non-technical product folks. The A/V team is a diverse collection of engineers and quality assurance engineers from all walks of life. We're a group of experienced technical minds who thrive in improving the quality and performance of software products designed, developed and integrated by the VADER engineering team.
What are some interesting problems you'll be working on? In your role, you will bridge the gap between development and other teams such as service delivery and operations teams. Troubleshoot file based video issues to find the root cause. Develop automated test plans to quantify the scope of reported issues. Create new metrics and identify monitoring deliverables to improve site reliability. Evaluate transcoding profile releases for basic standards adherence and systems integration support, providing guidance to QA teams who will perform functional and load testing.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the development team by deploying and configuring all systems and components in the various lab environments.
• Trouble shoot and triage workflow and file based video processing issues.
• Custom development of monitoring, and troubleshooting tools.
• Testing and certification of code and systems releases from core vendors.

Skills & Requirements
• 1-3 years of related video experience
• Experience with a variety of scripting languages including Python and Javascript a plus
• Ability to navigate Linux operating systems a plus
• Good communicator and able to clearly articulate complex issues and technologies
• Great design and problem solving skills
• Willing to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution
• Comfortable working in a fast paced agile environment. Requirements change quickly and our team needs to constantly adapt to moving targets.
• Experience working on an agile team a plus
