Pearson Australia is looking for an established Product Manager (PdM) to manage the lifecycle of digital products within the Higher Ed courseware portfolio. This includes defining and delivering new products and features, and overseeing the retirement of those that are underperforming.
As a PdM you will develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end lifespan of Pearson HE’s premier digital products - MyLabs/Mastering (MLM) and Revel - as well as the underlying technology platforms and components that support them. You will partner with colleagues in portfolio management to understand educator and learner jobs-to-be-done for assigned subject areas.
For new and in-market products, the PdM is responsible for articulating user stories based on understanding customer needs, and defining the product requirements and capabilities. You must manage the product backlog and track content and feature development. This includes running regular sprints.
For under-performing or mature products, you will develop and execute on detailed retirement plans.
The PdM must deliver on key product success metrics, including achieving target product and feature release dates, digital registration growth and product contribution targets.
You will be an evangelist for your product, supporting successful launch through education and support of the sales team, and product demos to customers.
The successful candidate will be passionate about educational technology. You are a confident self-starter, capable of working effectively in a rapidly changing market and ed tech landscape. You are comfortable working with colleagues with different levels of experience and exposure to digital product management, including acting as a mentor to more less experienced colleagues.
You are comfortable with ambiguity and balancing risk. You will have exceptional communication and meeting leadership skills, paired with the ability to make an immediate, positive impact. You will utilise all of these skills to strategically influence stakeholders at all levels across the business.
You will demonstrate expertise with respect to customers and the competition, exceeding their expectations with the product capabilities you deliver.
Qualifications
• Product development or management experience in digital learning applications, eBooks, or other educational technologies
• Ability to translate customer needs and financial goals into product deliverables
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams on established commercial products
• Passion for education, technology, and building exceptional learning experiences
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, find creative solutions and drive for results
• Track record of taking on big challenges and delivering despite obstacles and limited resources
• Ability to lead within cross-functional virtual teams spanning multiple regions (including global) and cultures
• Ability to travel interstate and internationally on an annual basis (up to 25%)
