Summary:
The incumbent will ensure that the creative vision is translated in the game by the systems and that the player experience contains that vision. He will ensure that the project’s strategic design challenges are met. The Game Design Director will also oversee the quality, variety and balance of the game, the narrative systems and the overall experience and challenge by guiding all application of game design within the game.
Responsibilities:
The main and routine tasks of the game director are to:
• Work with the creative director to ensure that the game design meets the creative director’s vision;
• With the producer and/or creative director to determine the production priorities and eventual scope adjustments;
• Define the design methods appropriate to the project and communicate those with the game design team;
• Support the Creative Director in communicating and detailing all game design elements with transversal and superior instances (management, editorial, etc.)
• Guide and support the game design team to ensure that the systems answer the various constraint and ultimately create the right player experience for the right players;
• In the event of a multi-studio project, extend all related tasks to the other game design teams and harmonize design throughout the sites;
• Carry out all other related tasks
Training:
Attestation of collegial studies (AEC) in video game design and production or equivalent training.
Relevant Experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a designer or any other relevant experience.
• Experience in supervising a game design team (asset).
