Position: Reporter, CTV Vancouver
Location: Vancouver, BC
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 15hours per week. Additional Hours as required.
Responsibilities:
• Working as part of the News Team, this Reporter will be responsible for originating, writing, interviewing, researching, and producing television and online news stories
• Develop original enterprise news stories when possible
• Develop news stories as assigned by Assignment Editor, including researching, interviewing, producing and writing
• Work closely with news editor to incorporate visuals in story in a timely, collaborative, engaging and accountable manner
• Must pay close attention to legal, ethical, and accuracy issues in reporting of the story and seek counsel where there is any doubt about the final story before it goes to air
• Participate in social networking of news stories, including discussions and viewer feedback
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Proven background in news reporting (with TV newsroom experience an asset), strong editorial sense and news judgement
• University level education a definite asset
• Must be knowledgeable about social networking and its potential for engaging audiences.
• Fluency in a second language an asset
• Strong written, research and presentation skills
• Self-initiative and ability to work independently under pressure of deadlines
• Keen interest in and understanding of current events, local community issues and political structures
• In depth knowledge and understanding of B.C. politics and history an asset.
• Ability to travel on short notice an asset
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
