About Us
NBCUniversal is one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. NBCUniversal owns and operates a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks. NBCUniversal’s policy is to provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, creed, gender, gender identity or expression, age, national origin or ancestry, citizenship, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, veteran status, membership in the uniformed services, genetic information, or any other basis protected by applicable law.
Responsibilities
Want to reinvent how we get the news? This is a job for someone who’s not afraid. Not afraid of taking on Facebook or Netflix, small screens or large screens, low attention spans or fickle audiences. It’s a job for someone who believes in ambitious, wow-inspiring, needle-moving products that build loyal audiences across all devices.
The role: product manager to lead Mobile and OTT experiences for all NBC News brands, reporting to the VP of Product. To succeed, you need the drive of an entrepreneur with the finesse and seaworthiness to navigate a big newsroom, inside a big org, inside a big company with a brand so iconic it is literally etched into huge granite pillars that flank the entrance to the building.
You also need to deeply understand what it takes to convert casual viewers into loyal fans, across a variety of environments and screens. You obsess (in a way that might annoy friends and family) about storytelling, user context, and device capabilities. You want to create mind-blowing user experiences that could, well, blow our customers’ minds. Oh and video, video, video. That’s what drives our brand, and that’s what you care deeply about.
Job Duties
Pioneering new ideas. Don’t accept the current state of News on mobile and OTT. Change is constant, inevitable, and good. Make the change, don’t be a victim of it.
Ensuring that your teams and products are always in the best health. If something is no one’s job, then it’s your job.
Fostering an agile way of working, not for the sake of a fervent belief in a methodology, but because it will deliver outstanding results.
Measuring everything, figuring out what the data means, explaining it to everyone, and changing things accordingly. Rinse. Repeat.
Your average work day includes:
Solving the unsolvable. The CMS doesn’t support mobile or OTT curation? You build it. The video player doesn’t play in-line or vertical? You hack it. Messy metadata? You clean it up. Need a personalization engine for playlists? Find one. (Have we mentioned that you’re the product owner?)
Working daily with the editorial team and helping them to reinvent how to tell effective stories on these platforms.
Surprising audiences, advertisers and partners...but in a good way. Building a loyal following for our products and working with sales to find the right way to monetize them.

More About You
You get what’s happening in media today… and more importantly, what will be happening tomorrow.
Failed at something interesting.
Not only are you creative, but you’re great at drawing creativity out of other people (Plus, you like to bring in really tasty stuff that somebody baked last night.)

You have great judgment and taste...but you also love your data.
You take your job seriously, but not yourself.
