Responsibilities
This role will serve as a dedicated safety resource supporting park expansion and infrastructure improvement projects. This role will also support on-going construction activity related to place-making and facility improvements performed by other departments outside of the Universal Creative umbrella. This role will primarily perform field work on construction job sites with office/administrative duties related to record-keeping, report writing and attendance at project planning or safety meetings. This role will serve as the primary safety liaison to the General Contractors Safety Representatives, will conduct job site inspections to monitor conformance with Constructions Safety Standards, will conduct incident investigations, and generate infraction reports.
Responsibilities
• Assists with pre-qualification and renewal of contractors/vendors, securing required EHS Contractor Safety packets, written programs, documentation of training records, safety data sheets, and certificates of insurance as determined by the work and EHS Contractor Safety Program. Maintains USH EHS Contractor Safety Database in accordance with UPR written program.
• Conducts field audits and inspections of GC and sub-contractor safety programs and practices at assigned project sites monitoring construction safety performance and compliance with NBCU or UPR construction safety standards and expectations, and local, state and federal requirements.
• Records all field inspections and audits into the appropriate company data management system. Generates contractor infraction reports for any non-compliance observed in the field.
• Submit applicable contractor related records, to the Construction Safety Coordinator for purposes of project safety record-keeping. This could include, but is not limited to, contractor qualification forms, management of change checklists, certificates of insurance, written safety programs, contractor training records, job hazard analyses for high risk tasks, project meeting minutes, photos or other construction safety program supporting documentation.
• Proactively calls out opportunities to minimize safety or environmental impact to USH/CW business operations based upon construction activity.
• Actively participates in assigned project or area staff meetings, project meetings or site walks.
• Maintains running list of items (aka a punch list) requiring corrective action prior to project major completion.
• Partners with NBCU Environmental Programs and Hazardous Materials Manager to drive compliance with hazardous materials management programs, hazardous materials facility assessments, other environmental compliance requirements and maintains supporting records to relevant project or contractor file.
• Provides project status reports and safety metrics to department management and appropriate Creative or other project management team members.
• Represents the department at project meetings and follows up on actionable items accordingly. Reports back to Sr. EHS Manager regularly on items discussed during meetings or project walk-thrus requiring follow-up.
• Participates or leads project safety kick-off meetings and/or ongoing project meetings to remain abreast of schedule, priorities and issues.
• Responds to, investigates & provides follow-up to any project related safety event (medical, fire, or other emergency), reviews contractor incident reports and ensures corrective actions meet company expectations, communicates safety events with an appropriate sense of urgency.
• Provides ongoing education and safety consultation to project teams and contractor personnel as to USH safety expectations and processes. Utilizes every interaction with others to educate and promote a culture of environmental, health & safety excellence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a safety, environmental and/or construction field preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in industrial and/or construction consulting role; or equivalent combination of and experience.
• Experience with plans review and regulatory interpretations
• Experience in working with safety database systems and electronic means of record-keeping to support compliance
• Must have exceptional written communication skills
• Must have the ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, collaborative working environment
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of a 24/7 365 day operation
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walking/traveling to multiple venues throughout the day.

Desired Characteristics
• Professional designation such as OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP or other nationally recognized professional designation preferred but not required.
• Strong oral and written communicator.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Prior theme park or amusement park employment experience highly desired.
