Description
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PLANNING, DESIGN, AND IMPLEMENTATION:
• Analyze and initiate configurations and other changes within the system per business needs
• Balance business requirements with technical feasibility and set expectations on new projects. Recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Determine resources and timeline.
• Test solutions and ensure it meets specifications. Present and validate solution with the user.
• Attend meetings as required with external vendors to discuss issues and maintain relationships.
• Work with the business stakeholders and developers and analysts to develop a solution or enhance existing solution. Gather information from users and work to understand their needs.
• Identify, review and prioritize enhancements and fixes with an objective of improving the Customer experience. Required to work with Customers and Business Partners to gather information necessary to submit enhancements for development.
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT:
• Manage installation, configuration, upgrade, and migration. Install and maintain the DB environment by following the defined standards. Propose automated solutions to reduce the time and increase efficiency
• Ensure Backup and recovery. Configure the backup by following the Autodesk backup policy. Execute data restoration processes as needed. Review database backup reports to ensure proper and consistent operations of backup services
• Ensure Database security. Maintain the environment to current and keep it updated by applying the released security patches. Promote and drive security principals based on the least privilege concept.
• Carry out storage and capacity planning. Manage the storage used by the databases and avoid DB shortage in storage by regularly monitoring storage and determining future needs.
• Provide DB services by responding to incoming issues and requests via tracking systems (Service-Now) and proactively monitoring system for problems.
• Monitor Performance and Tuning. Ensure systems are running efficiently and monitor pro-actively to detect issues.
• Troubleshoot problems. Respond to reports of database issues or diminished performance according to published SLAs. Identify and troubleshoot systems and isolate the source of the problem.
• Write technical documents and maintain the needed documentation for the internal usage of the team. Train system users if required and promote new options/features provided by the DB vendors.
• Ensure DB implementation (Standards). Work with other technical team members to establish, maintain, build and release standards. Propose the most appropriate tool to keep/bring the environment to the standards, adjust the standards to the latest trend, implement and follow standards and policies as defined.
• Ensure the Autodesk database licenses are compliant, i.e., the number of licenses being used does not exceed the number of licenses bought.
REQUIREMENT:
• BS degree in Computer Technology or equivalent experience
• At least five years’ experience in supporting Oracle and MSSQL database administration
• Two years’ experience in supporting MySQL database administration
• One year experience with AWS technologies.
• Any NoSQL database exposure is an added advantage
• Must be an excellent team player
