Wireless Technology Networks Development department is seeking a highly motivated and results focused, Senior Manager individual for the newly formed Radio Access Software Development team. Wireless Technology is a dynamic, customer-centric organization providing the strategic direction for the ongoing evolution of Bell Mobility’s network.
The mission of the Radio Access Software Development team is to validate and introduce new RAN software features to:
• Improve user experience
• Minimize operational impact
• Reduce OPEX/CAPEX associated with the Radio Access Network
Job Duties and Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Director of Wireless Technology Networks, the Senior Manager of the Radio Access Software Development team will be responsible for:
• leading the technical development and introduction of new software features into Bell Mobility’s network to improve user experience, simplify operations and reduce Opex and Capex requirements
• Supporting subject matter experts in both Mississauga and Dorval
• Managing the software feature budget
• Conducting pre-production lab and field testing to understand all aspects of wireless system performance and ensure seamless integration of new features into the wireless networks.
• Continuous optimization of the New Technology Introduction process to maximize speed, efficiency and knowledge transfer to operational groups
• Develop strategies, recommendations and guidelines to enable the optimal deployment of new RF access capacity and performance related features for the Bell Mobility network
• Managing relationships and influencing key vendors and partners to ensure the needs of the organization are met
• Manage the relationship with other groups such as RF engineering, Network Performance, core network engineering, service development
• Provide support to RF Engineering and Network Performance to address complex performance issues in the network
• Talent management (attract, retain and develop)
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with specialization in communications with 10 years experience in one of the following types of organization:
◦ wireless carrier (engineering or technology department)
◦ wireless infrastructure vendor (RF engineering, system design, IOT or R&D department)
• Strong understanding of wireless telecommunications technology and best practices with specific interest in HSPA, LTE and 5G
• knowledge of one or more radio system attributes such as; radio propagation, link budgets, modulation schemes, spectrum management
• Strong organizational skills
• Proven leadership of leading and managing a technical team
• Autonomy and sense of decision making
• Superior analytic skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Superior verbal, written and presentation skills; able to simplify and explain complex concepts to various audiences (engineers, technicians, executives)
• Strong technical leadership and time management skills
• Results oriented team player
• Innovative and outside the box thinking approach to problem solving
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
• Management degree
• Strategic thinker
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
