Crunchyroll is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Creative Executive to join company’s Original Content team in the development of scripted original programming.
Ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, multi-skilled and adaptable. Will be part of a small, highly collaborative team and required to wear many hats.
This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and creative writing skills. A passion for all forms of genre entertainment is a must, as is a deep understanding of both Western and Eastern pop media.
Remote position based out of L.A. Travel required between L.A. and SF.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Source and evaluate new IP for project development.
• Cultivate and maintain talent relationships.
• Heavy reading and research. Absorb source materials and generate critical analyses, IP decks, design briefs, and notes documents.
• Provide organizational support for department. Manage internal lists, logs, schedules, etc.
• Collaborate with writers, artists, and external producers to develop creative materials during different stages of project life cycle.
• Track and analyze entertainment trends within target demographic.
• Coordinate with business affairs, design, production, content management, marketing, audience development, and licensing to drive department’s strategic goals.
Preferred Experience:
• Minimum 1-3 years in film or television industries, in development or production of scripted content.
• Deep understanding of pop culture, media, and genre entertainment -- including novels, comics/manga, animation/anime, games, and live-action film & TV.
• Strong grasp of storytelling structure, tropes, and conventions across multiple media formats.
• Excellent writing, editorial, analytical and communication skills.
• Japanese language proficiency is a plus.
