Primary Responsibility:
This position is responsible for leading the planning and managing of all activities for several Business Units (BU), including development, maintenance and enhancement of complex, business critical applications that utilize a variety of new computing architectures (e.g., UNIX, Linux and Windows Operating Systems, Load Balancing, Firewalls, WiFi technology, DNS, DHCP, VMware, Cisco UCS, routers and switches, Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange, Citrix, SAN technology, Backup Technologies and various hardware platforms). Ensures that all projects and programs are implemented on time and within budget; maintains open communication with the respective customers ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the delivery process and works to build the organization by actively managing the careers of the people in the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Management Skills
• Strong project management skills, with experience in managing, organizing, planning and executing large-scale technical projects from conception through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors and vendors.
• Knowledge of formal software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Strong leadership ability that can develop and energize a multi-disciplined organization, which could include project managers, project administrators, software developers, database administrators, business analysts and others, to learn and apply new skills and techniques to respond to business needs.
• Demonstrated organizational management skills in a highly complex, fast growing technical environment including personnel management (hiring, recruiting, staffing, mentoring, coaching and reviewing), budget management and business planning.
• Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with customers, staff, senior management, vendors and contractors.
• Flexible management style, able to quickly adapt to diverse and changing environments.
• An ability to present and discuss technical, functional and management information in a clear and concise way that explains complex topics, is persuasive and promotes consensus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
• Ability to effectively manage in an environment where FTEs and consultants work closely together and are often interchangeable.
Technical/Functional Competencies
• Knowledge of formal Quality Assurance (QA) processes, including but not limited to; use case development, code reviews, defect tracking, unit testing, systems testing, integration testing and performance testing.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities based on workload and direction from management and customer.
• Knowledge of architectural design and implementations pertaining to middleware, networks, client server environments, internet, information sharing, modeling and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX, Linux and Windows Operating Systems, Load Balancing, Firewalls, WiFi technology, DNS, DHCP, VMware, Cisco UCS, routers and switches, Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange, Citrix, SAN technology, Backup Technologies and various hardware platforms.
• Experience with the introduction of new technologies and standards into a mature IT or business environment.
• Ability to effectively adapt to and apply rapidly changing technology to business needs.
• Knowledge and experience in assigned business unit(s) direction and practices.
Key Experiences/Achievements
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business (or Management), Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required; a Master’s degree (or equivalent) is a plus.
• 12+ years of experience in Infrastructure and Datacenter Management, including implementation and installation in an on-line environment, or equivalent experience working to maintain a highly available and stable environment.
9+ years of management experience in which one or more of the following has occurred:
• Strong abilities in relationship management .
• Successful implementation of infrastructure in new computing architecture environments using new and emerging technologies.
• Successful management of multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams.
• Successful execution of multiple and/or large scale projects.
• Successful management of resources to meet goals across multiple projects.
• Development of efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
9+ years of experience in either of the following:
• IT or business unit management experience that includes working closely in the development and implementation of large-scale business systems.
• Development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms.
6+ years of the following:
• Project management responsibility, demonstrating leadership skills and possessing a track record of managing technical or business staff and financial resources through various life-cycle phases (cross functional experience highly desirable).
• Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies in mainframe, midrange, PC and web-based computing environments desirable.
• Previous experience in process improvement desirable.
• Knowledge of AMC’s business practices and/or industry.
• Previous experience in creating, justifying and managing operating budgets.
