General Summary:
As part of the DNUK Scheduling Team, the role of Scheduling Executive is to take responsibility for the planning, scheduling and input of channels and to work closely with the Schedule Manager developing forward plans and strategy. They will be responsible for the channel output from plan to release and will be expected to deputize for the schedule Manager where required. Working with the Scheduling Manager, the role will be expected to ensure that channels of responsibility will be scheduled optimally to maximize revenue and ratings through an in-depth knowledge of the stock available, the channel’s target audience, the channels brand, its competitors and an understanding about how to win and keep viewers.
The job requires great attention to detail, a working knowledge of television ratings, the television market and an approach to scheduling that is both strategic and creative.
Key Responsibilities:
• Management of the schedules from the 12 week deadline to release ensuring all schedule grids, premiere lists and necessary documentation is up to date and accurate liaising with the following departments, BSO, Listings, Net Ops, Rights Management, Media Planning, Marketing and On Air.
• To be responsible for entering and maintaining accurate program schedules in IBMS
• Monitor channels schedule performance and recommend short/long term initiatives for discussion with the Scheduling Manager to ensure channels maintain their competitive edge
• Ensure all schedule amendments are processed accurately and communicated to relevant departments
• Forward Planning create scenario planning and modelling of different schedule strategies to achieve the most commercially attractive schedule
• To work with the portfolio groups to communicate schedule plans/ priorities
• Manage competition tracking and forecasting as a tool for forward planning
• Ensure the integration of non-linear scheduling VOD
• Maintain up to date knowledge of the broadcasting market, changing audience requirements and competitors schedules
• To build strong relationships and handle day to day enquires from other departments BSO, Listings, Media Planning, Operations, Press and Marketing, communicate initiatives or changes, as required or requested.
• To sit on ad hoc internal working parties as a representative of the channel
Requirements:
• Excellent admin skills and attention to detail
• Previous programme scheduling experience
• An analytical mind with creative flair to identify key facts, trends and issues.
• High motivation.
• Excellent people management skills
• Resilience to cope with the pressure of tight deadlines and a demanding workload with changing priorities.
• Understanding of audience research
• Clear understanding of the Discovery Brands and a passion for television
• Experience of working in a commercial organization
IT competence:
• Experience in Word & Excel a must
• Preferably experienced in IBMS and / or research systems such Infosys
