As part of the Yahoo Science and Technology organization and critical to Yahoo innovation, our platform solutions enable and accelerate Yahoo strategic initiatives.
A Lot About You
We are looking for an experienced Product Leader to own our open source ecosystem strategy, community development, and drive key initiatives in the Cloud Services organization. In this role, you will work very closely with top tier developers, architects, and other product managers in an Agile environment, and work cross functionally with partner teams across Yahoo. You have high attention to detail including a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously. You have the ability to thrive in a dynamic fast paced environment and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary. You have the ability to think strategically and execute methodically, as well as strong technical depth and understanding of cloud landscape and growing open source initiatives. You have the ability to liaison with other large practitioners and vendors to form key strategic relationships for Yahoo Cloud Services.
Your Day
• Partner with product and technical teams to identify and influence development of new products, features, and functionalities
• Cultivate thriving user communities inside and outside Yahoo for key open source initiatives and develop product champions. Grow industry mindshare for Yahoo Cloud Services.
• Define and manage the product roadmap, strategy, specifications, and features, setting and continuously managing the right expectations with all relevant stakeholders
• Prioritize many competing alternatives and requests, balance customer needs (both internal and external) with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions
• Define product success metrics / KPIs and analyze product performance by driving the product agenda and planning with Engineering, Design, and other cross-functional teams to deliver
• Drive initiatives to completion by working with Engineering and QE teams in an Agile environment
• Build positive relationships and trust through strong cross-team interactions, on-time delivery, high quality product and perceptive thinking
• Lead cross-functional teams in delivering quality products
• Represent Yahoo Cloud Services in external engagements
You Must Have
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5 years experience as a software developer or similar experience, and 5+ years of product management experience
• Outstanding communication skills (verbal/written/presentation)
• Demonstrated track record of successful product execution, and leading / collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality products in a large scale environment
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate user communities and adoption programs, especially open source
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills combined with a strong business and technical acumen
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical and non-technical employees
• Experience prioritizing competing opportunities, balancing business priorities, driving detailed trade-offs over the product lifecycle, and managing conflict
• Experience writing concise & complete product requirements, user scenarios, and marketing collateral
• Preferred:
◦ Experience working on cloud services at a large-scale web-based consumer products and services company
◦ Experience with emerging technologies for container management, cluster management, edge services, continuous delivery in a hybrid cloud environment a big plus
◦ Experience in open source community development
