The Position
Skyword is seeking a Senior Editorial Manager, to lead a team of copy editors and editorial managers as it oversees the creation, quality assurance, and delivery of Web content to Skyword’s clients. The Senior Editorial Manager reports to Skyword’s Editorial Director, working to implement Skyword's editorial strategy consistently across the team. This position is located in our Boston, MA office.

Responsibilities
The role is divided into two sets of core responsibilities:
Team and Department Management
• Manage a team of editors as it works to deliver high-quality editorial content to a portfolio of clients.
• Contribute to an empowering and nurturing work environment by providing ongoing leadership and support for team members in all aspects of their duties.
• Determine, monitor, and manage team workload.
• Ensure the team meets daily, weekly, and monthly content delivery goals.
• Report on the status of the team's clients, workload, and performance to senior management.
• Assist with team recruitment, onboarding, and development.
• Conduct performance reviews.
• Lead one-on-one, team, and department meetings and training.
Editorial Strategy and Recommendations
• Work with other directors to implement and maintain Skyword's editorial best practices and internal procedures.
• Work within cross-functional teams to launch new client content initiatives, including advising the team on editorial planning, contributor selection, audience, and brand guidelines.
• Offer senior support and editorial advice to clients helping them overcome the challenges of online publishing.
• Provide feedback and input on ongoing planning, topics, and content to ensure they meet each client’s high expectations.
• With the team, analyze content performance to capture insights that help drive planning.
• Educate the team on strong storytelling techniques and how best to approach brand stories.
Requirements
• Ability to manage, nurture and inspire a team.
• Experience training and developing staff, and delivering constructive feedback.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
• Experience creating strong online content.
• An expert knowledge of SEO.
• Ability to adapt to multiple editorial styles depending on the client.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks on a deadline.
• A history of developing strong professional relationships with freelance contributors, clients, and partners.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment within an open office.
Experience
• Bachelors degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field.
• 6-8 years of professional editing and editorial management experience.
• 2-4 years of team management experience.
