We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Sr. Software Engineer in our Boston, MA office. Does this sound like you?
Reporting to the Manager of Software Engineering, the Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for working with DPG business units and the Product Managers to deliver user interface which market and sell DPG online offerings. The position will be need to negotiate and compromise user interface designs with MHHE business units and the DPG product engineering team in order to meet product delivery schedules and cost.
Critical Functions:
• This position will work collaboratively with Product Management and PMO to define scope.
• Collaborating on story boards, wire frames, and interface flow model documents using the agile process.
• Hands-on software development using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript including SASS/LESS, ES6, modern frameworks and third party/open-source libraries.
• Cross discipline advocate who can ensure on-time delivery across engineering, user experience, product management, system administration, and release management.
• Research technology issues and work with teams staff to understand and resolve challenges.
• Prototype with emerging technologies to enhance SDLC.
• Drive the adoption of conventions and best practices for font-end development.
• Improve user experience and provide elegant and performant interfaces to the customers.
• Ensure instrumentation and coverage metrics are addressed.
• Participate in code reviews.
A successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Mathematics/Sciences or related field with six plus years’ experience in design and developing enterprise software applications, or equivalent work experience.
• Skill writing HTML5, Object Oriented JavaScript, CSS and common tools (e.g., lodash, grunt/gulp, webpack, handlebars).
• Candidate must also be familiar with java script and Single Page Application frameworks like EmberJS, AngularJS, EXT.js, React, Backbone or similar.
• Candidates should have demonstrated 5 years of web development with these or related technologies. These skills enable the User Interface Developer to create rich web experiences that keep students and instructors, our customers, using our products.
• Working knowledge of client/server and related environments.
• Expertise with distributed version control systems (e.g, git, svn, mercurial, accurev).
• Expertise with DDD and data modeling.
• Expertise with REST.
• Experience with MV* frameworks for front-end development (e.g., Ember, Angular, Backbone).
